An apprenticeship is a job that includes both on the job and off the job training. Being an apprentice is an investment in your future career: you agree to earn slightly less than you would in an equivalent non-apprenticeship job and to work hard on both academic and non-academic elements. In return, you receive training which will help you to develop both your career and your personal and professional confidence and skills. In the end, you undertake an independent assessment which you can achieve a pass, merit or distinction.

Apprenticeship – a great alternative to a University

An Apprenticeship is a real job with training, it provides a unique opportunity for you to earn, learn and gain a qualification as a valuable part of a workforce. More and more people are realising the benefits of Apprenticeships, over universities or jobs.

Apprenticeships combine on-the-job learning provided by employers with off-the-job underpinning knowledge provided by training providers. They offer the latest, interactive methods of learning and training programmes targeted to meet employers’ needs whilst developing apprentices to confident professionals. These nationally recognised qualifications are a great way to build up your qualifications whilst getting commercial experience and most are fully funded by the government or/and employers, meaning you stay debt free!

Apprentices learn while working, asking questions and getting feedback from their on-the-job mentors as well as tutor/assessor visiting the workplace. They can start at the equivalent of a GCSE, right the way up to degree level.
